Over the summer I was scrolling through the app, as I did every day, when I stumbled across a twenty-video thread of clips from a movie titled, “The Girl in the Basement.” The initial clip I saw had the caption, “Dad locks his own daughter in their home basement and starts a family with her for over 20 years.” This immediately piqued my interest and captured my attention, leading me to spend the next hour watching the rest of the movie clips. ![]() Like many other teenagers and young adults in this generation, I spend multiple hours each day scrolling through the highly addictive app of “TikTok.” I am not proud to admit that I am like every other teenager who is just a little addicted to their phone and social media, however, it has led me to discover dozens of new recipes, clothes, and even true crime cases.
